How calendaring is a spiritual practice

So I've been pretty selfish with myself most of my life.

What I mean by that is:

My Present Self would rarely think about my Future Self.

And I did, it would be something like,

"Oh whatever, she'll figure it out."

Which is why I would often leave her hungover, or with limited time to complete papers, or in relationships with jerks, or in unfulfilling careers.

I always just let her fend for herself.

And so then THAT Present Self would feel unfulfilled and trapped.

She was basically just constantly doing a bunch of clean up for my Past Self, blaming her, and honestly even kind of hating her.

My Past, Present and Future Selves had terrible relationships with each other: they didn't consider each other, they didn't take care of each other.

This is why I have so much love for calendaring.

Calendar created a container for me to pay attention to all versions of myself.

When I plan for the upcoming week, I consider what is best for my Future Self. Then, because I know I have thoughtfully considered her, my Present Self can hold onto that when I am doing a task that feels tedious or difficult. When I review the week, I feel grateful for my Past Self for doing the work, and take note of the areas I can modify in my calendar to make the experience even better for my Future Self the following week.

Calendaring can seem kind of mathematical and rigid, but when it's combined with the right mindset, it is a spiritual practice because it is an act of love for yourself.

You've got this, beautiful <3
