PSA: growth sucks

PSA: Growth sucks.

I mean it’s amazing, we all want it, and we are happy AFTER it happens, but DURING, it feels actually feels like the WORST.

Because when all the gross feelings inevitably come up (self doubt, fear, discomfort, anxiety, stress, and other Fun Friends…) we make it mean that we’re doing something wrong and we should stop.

Don’t stop.

The fact that you created these feelings is actually the best sign ever.

Think of a dog on a leash tied to a pole.

Just beyond the length of the leash is a tasty bone.

The dog can easily walk around up until the leash tightens.

You are the dog, the area you can walk is your current identity, the leash is your limiting thoughts, and the bone is your goal.

Your current identity feels comfortable, it’s within what your limiting leash-thoughts will allow.

If you go past the edge of your current identity, the edge of your comfort zone,

It will start to feel like you are going to die,

because your thoughts are tightening around you, trying to keep you where it feels safe.

You might be tempted at this point to stop moving forward.

But, if you want the bone, you need to go through the discomfort as the leash stretches.

It’s uncomfortable but that leash WILL stretch.

And once it has, you not only get the bone, but the area you can now comfortably walk around has now expanded forever!

You thought the discomfort wasn’t supposed to be there, but it was a sign you were on your way to getting that bone.

Think about how if you just broke your leash completely, there would be no limit to how many bones you could get.

Who would you be if you allowed yourself to go after the bones you wanted and feel the discomfort of getting them?
