Your Relationship with Your Future Self

Hello World!

What is your relationship with your future self?

Do you know who they are? What do they think about themselves? What feelings do they feel on a daily basis? How do they show up in the world?

Many of us recreate the same life for ourselves year after year because we only have a connection with our past selves: we think the same thoughts they did, so we keep creating the same results.

I lived in many countries and everywhere I went it was always the same: I moved, met someone almost right away, started a relationship with them, and then the relationship ended when I left. This happened every single time.

And the reason? My belief that being with someone was the only way to be happy. So when someone wanted to be with me, I jumped right away into a relationship and stayed with them until my body literally moved to a new location, and then repeated the cycle.

Look at your current life: it is maintained by your beliefs.

Many of those beliefs are unintentionally chosen, and if you are not intentional about them, you will keep reusing the old ones.

So how do you create new beliefs?

One way is rather than looking to your past for evidence of who you are, to look towards your future to who you can become.

Get super clear on this person, try and figure out everything about them. And then access their wisdom now.

When I don’t know what to do, I love asking my future self, “what would you do?” and seeing what advice she gives me.

When I’ve failed at something, I love using her perspective to look at my situation. While I might view it as a failure, she views it as part of the process and I’m exactly where I should be.

When I feel insecure, I love asking her for a pep talk and how she sees me.

The more I access my future self, the more I step into her belief systems. The most I practice her beliefs, the more I become her.

This is how you make your future self into your present self, and change your life.

What is one thing you can do today to become your future self?

What is the life you want to live and what beliefs are preventing you from creating it? Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to help you see it. If this is you, I can help you.
